Jaclyn Tassan is the music teacher at Sinai College. Jaclyn grew up in the small beach town of Hervey Bay where her musical journey began at age 6 when she joined the local community and school choir. Her formal musical studies began at age 8 through private violin and vocal lessons. After a few years Jaclyn then went on to teach herself the guitar and piano. Throughout her schooling years, she performed and competed in a variety of music festivals, eisteddfods and local youth orchestras. Her music studies continued until she moved to Brisbane where she went on to complete a Bachelor of Education majoring in Music and a Master of Music and Sound from the Queensland University of Technology.
During her Master of Music Jaclyn had the opportunity to teach and work alongside the Head of Music at the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts, produce and record musicians at the Gasworks studio and collaborate with creative industries members to design modern interactive educational resources. Jaclyn now has over 8 years’ experience teaching both instrumental and classroom music in schools around South East Queensland.
In addition to spreading her love of music through teaching, Jaclyn is also a local musician who performs frequently on weekends at a variety of venues and functions around Brisbane. Other than music Jaclyn enjoys playing soccer, eating sweets and spending quality time with her family and furry pooch pals.
