Melissa Woodward

Year 3 & 4 Teacher

 

Melissa Woodward  is a primary trained teacher. She started her teaching career in South Africa and then did some relief teaching in England. Following this Melissa taught in New Zealand ranging from New Entrant/Prep to Year 6 classes. For the last 2 years she has worked as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour in NZ, where she supported teachers with their professional development as well as supporting students with behaviour and learning difficulties.

Melissa is passionate about learning and supporting children; she completed her undergraduate degree in Child and Family Psychology in South Africa and then completed her Graduate Diploma of Teaching in New Zealand. Following that she completed a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology in 2017. Melissa has done further study into Growth Mindset coaching and how this can be used within the classroom setting to support students achieve their best.

She believes in creating a classroom environment that is safe, warm, and engaging, where students feel comfortable to take risks with their learning and are able to develop academically, emotionally, and socially. She feels that teaching is a privilege, and that school should be fun and engaging for all students.
